Rosario Osobase, managing director of Tenaris in Nigeria, was featured in the first episode of the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) podcast series, an initiative to empower women professionals and entrepreneurs in the African energy industry.
Hosted by Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani, general manager and head of corporate development and investor relations at Zenith Bank, and Charlotte Essiet, CEO of Elint Systems, the WIEN Woman Podcast provides a platform to highlight the achievements of women leaders in the energy sector, promoting diversity and inclusion.
In its inaugural episode, Osobase, who also forms part of the WEIN board of directors, shared her remarkable 19-year journey in the energy industry, offering insights and inspiration to professionals.
“I've always prided myself on being someone who likes to do hard things. I don't run away from challenges. When I'm met with a challenge, I like to take it head-on and see what it brings. I believe that behind every challenge is an opportunity if you know how to harness it,” said Osobase about the power of stepping out of the comfort zone.
During the interview, she shared how her father helped her build self-confidence. “I was raised by a father who believed in me before I believed in myself. My dad would always tell me, ‘You can do this,’ and he would push me to do it, creating an environment conducive to thriving. Because of that, I grew up not seeing my gender as a limitation,” she explained.
Mother of three children, Osobase also shared her strategy to manage “all the moving parts of life” and stay organized. “The early stages of motherhood teach you resilience and adaptability. One of the strongest skills of being a mother and a full-time employee is organizational skills. You need to know how to plan and how to put structures in place,” she highlighted.
