Two young professionals from the U.S. recently completed a work experience at Siderca, Tenaris's seamless steel pipe manufacturing center in Campana, Argentina. This experience was part of an international internship program bridging both countries, an initiative led by companies in the oil and gas sector and coordinated with support from the Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas (IAPG).
“My project involved creating control bands in the manufacturing process for each product Tenaris offers. Essentially, they serve as quality guides, which is our main differentiator as a company. This opportunity allowed me to explore and learn how a large company like Tenaris operates, and how to work in dynamic teams,” said Benjamin Bridges, a Rice University graduate from North Carolina who spent two months working alongside the technology team at the rolling mill.
For Ashley Velázquez, from University of Houston, it wasn’t her first time in the energy sector, having previously interned at Aramco. However, at Tenaris, she got to know the industry's operations from within. “I felt very welcomed by my team. They guided me a lot, showed me the mill, and ensured that every day I saw something new and could contribute to the company,” said the young industrial engineer.
Used to multitasking, Ashley worked on several projects at Tenaris. “So far, I’ve had the opportunity to understand how different areas of a business operate, and I can say that continuous improvement and logistics are what I like the most. That’s why I’m interested in the Tenaris Global Trainee program, which allows you to rotate through different sectors and consolidate your overall vision,” Ashley shared.
Spearheaded by Pan American Energy, this internship program promotes the connection between universities and industry through the exchange of professional knowledge and experiences. This edition gathered 27 students from prestigious U.S. universities—selected from over 600 applicants. Alongside Tenaris, companies such as CGC, Techint Engineering & Construction, Honeywell Argentina, Tecpetrol, and Molinos Agro were involved.
