Dina Rozner, laboratory shift leader at Tenaris's seamless pipe mill in Bay City, Texas, has 20 years of experience working with semiconductors, microprocessors and electrical testing. She joined the team during the mill’s startup in 2017 as a Mechanical Technician focusing on the certification process. Rozner played an essential role in the organization of the Quality lab. “I've been told that I drive for results, have a curious mind, and want to jump in there and fix the problem,” says Rozner.
Rozner explains her leadership style is to be open and approachable for her team. “I try to lead with empathy,” she adds. “I do what I can to help my employees, stay up to date with the newest policies, and above all, keep safety first.”
“Dina has a unique way of managing employees that positively affects production in a tremendous way,” explains Ahmed Saad, Laboratory Manager. “She inspires her employees to improve production and at the same time, genuinely embrace working for our lab.”
Rozner wears many hats in the lab at the mill, assisting in certifications, managing the 5S efficiency initiative, and assisting in the metallographic lab, leveraging her eye for detail to ensure the highest quality products leave the site. “I think we're a crucial part of making it all tie together, so the customer receives the very best product,” she says. “I try to be as detail oriented as I can. We catch issues either by testing or even by visual inspection.”
The job behind quality is more than the tests and procedures for the product, Rozner explains, it’s also your character and integrity, especially with customer interactions. “The customer is everything, it’s not just about pipe production,” she adds. “It's also communicating with the customer. I think it's also how you work, how you interact with others. Are you a team player? Are you here to be a positive influence?”
Rozner said the team is always striving to improve, as there is no room for complacency, noting: “We're always self-analyzing and asking what we could have done better. Even in a perfect situation there's always something that can be improved upon as a team. It's having the mindset that there’s always room for improvement.”
