Shaping the future: Technical sales expert charts new path for Emirati women at Tenaris

Back in the United Arab Emirates following a recent trip to Argentina, Hamda Almahri returns with a deeper understanding of Tenaris products and services, adding a fresh perspective to her work in technical sales while shaping the future for Emirati woman at Tenaris.

Almahri is the first female from the UAE to take part in Tenaris’s global technical training program. "I was happy to know that the company was willing to invest in me and send me to such a valuable training," said Almahri. "At the same time, I was nervous. It felt like a big step, especially since I had never been to Latin America before, and I didn’t know what to expect."

The September 2024 training in Argentina focused on products and services, while providing greater insights through mill visits and leadership sessions, broadening Almahri’s learnings from her engineering studies.

"It was focused on premium technologies. I found it fascinating to learn about the cutting-edge research and development behind our products and the way Tenaris stays ahead of competitors," she explained.

The experience also provided Almahri with her first visit to a seamless pipe facility. “For the first time, I felt like an engineer. It was an unforgettable feeling, and it made me realize how deeply connected I am to what we do here at Tenaris,” she said. “The experience of seeing how we manufacture the pipes, understanding the processes, and witnessing the teamwork across different specializations made me feel like part of something much bigger.”

Bridging the gap between processes and application, Almahri was also able to see the direct link between her work in technical sales in Abu Dhabi and the production in Argentina, as the pipes being produced during her visit would be delivered to longstanding customer ADNOC. Beyond the training, Almahri had the opportunity to meet colleagues from different regions. "It was a great opportunity to connect with people from various backgrounds and learn about their cultures. It was eye-opening to realize how much we all have in common despite our differences," she said.

Proud of her personal achievements, Almahri also recognizes the positive impact of her milestone journey for Emirati women at Tenaris and in the technical field. “It does make me feel proud. I hope that my story can inspire others, especially younger Emiratis, to pursue careers in engineering and know that there are opportunities for them, just like there were for me,” she said.

The experience, said Almahri, has accelerated her learning, and development. “It’s been a game changer in how I see my role, my contributions, and how I can help drive the success of Tenaris moving forward.”
