Tenaris to award scholarships partnering with the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association

For the second year in a row, Tenaris is partnering with the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association in Texas to award the TenarisBayCity Scholarship for Agricultural Sustainability, for a total of $40,000 USD in awards on March 1. The scholarship will benefit 37 students participating in this year’s Pen of Three Commercial Heifer Show.

“The purpose of the Commercial Heifer Show is to provide a project that exposes exhibitors to commercial cattle production. This includes purchasing, development, breeding, and marketing,” said Leissa Schrader, Matagorda County Fair Association Fair Manager. “With this scholarship program, these exhibitors will go on to further their education, some in a form of agriculture. MCFLA is honored by the generosity of Tenaris and their commitment to the future of our youth.”

Since 2013, Tenaris has been a dedicated partner in Matagorda County, Texas, starting with the construction of its seamless pipe mill. Over the years, the company has invested $3.8 million USD in the community through scholarships, donations, and support for local institutions.

“Tenaris values the work of the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Association, supporting our youth, helping them to develop into our community’s next generation of leaders," said Jason Gernand, Industrial Relations Director for Tenaris in Bay City. “Tenaris is proud to grow alongside the community, not only by providing scholarships but also by investing in the long-term success of Matagorda County and our future leaders. With these scholarships, Tenaris recognizes the hard work, dedication, and business skills these students are demonstrating.”

Promoting education through scholarships for Matagorda County students continues to be a priority for Tenaris. This year, the company will mark the 13th anniversary of its Roberto Rocca Scholarship program in the area, with the award ceremony scheduled for May 8 at Tenaris’s Bay City steel pipe manufacturing center in Texas.
